Over seven hundred people have been displaced by floods at Sandema in the Upper East Region after heavy rains that lasted several hours, Wednesday.
While roads have been rendered impassable, many properties have been swept away and economic activities have also grounded to a halt.
Joy News spoke to some of the displaced persons who said they have lost all their belongings.
"Everything in my room has been submerged by the water. I was outside, when I came the whole room was full up with the water. Then my computer, my working documents and everything have been messed up by the water," one resident recounted.
Another resident said some people had built in water ways and have had their homes "moved down into the soil".
District Chief Executive of Builsa, Norbert Awule described the flood as very destructive but assured everything was being done to help the affected persons.
“The flood destruction has been so extensive and it has affected also some roads in the township,” he reported.
