Heritage Christian College (HCC), a university in Amasaman-Accra, has held its 7th Matriculation ceremony on the theme, “Strategic Positioning for Success at the University.”

In all, 121 students from Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroun were admitted into Bachelor’s degree programmes in Business Administration (with options in Accounting, Human Resource, Marketing, Business Information Technology Management and Banking and Finance); Theology, Nursing and Information Technology.

By September 2023, the university will also admit students into BBA Accounting with Computing, BSc. Information Security as well as Master’s degrees-MSc. Accounting and Taxation, MSc. Accounting and Finance and MSc. Human Resource Management.

The Provost of the university, Dr. Williams Atuilik said, “Heritage Christian College is on a mission to bring about a difference in the way university education is delivered. We are aware of the fact that education holds a brilliant promise to change the destinies of individuals and societies as a whole."

"We are also very conscious of the fact that the education that is offered must be transformative, if it is to have any effect on the individual’s fortunes. We are thus guided by the following core values known as the 5 Cs of HCC: Conviction, Character, Creativity, Compassion and Community.”

These values, he said, build faith and sound moral principles, promote entrepreneurial initiatives among the HCC Community members and create an atmosphere of interaction and belonging.

The President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana, Ms. Sena Dake, who was the Guest Speaker at the matriculation, charged the students to positioning themselves strategically to attain success while in the university and after they graduate.

"You need to know where you want to go and how you are going to get there. You need to have a plan and be willing to put in the effort to make it happen. The big personalities you see at the top didn’t start there. They started from somewhere and went through a process. Be committed to your process," she said.

Ms. Dake further encouraged students to align with the school's core values to foster their personal growth and success. "As you begin this exciting journey at Heritage Christian College, I encourage you to identify your strengths, define your goals, and take the initiative to position yourself through the various opportunities provided at HCC. Build relationships and networks which will be your social capital after school. By staying focused and committed to your vision, you can achieve great things and make a positive impact in your community and the world at large. Remember, success is not a destination but a continuous journey of growth and learning."

As a university that envisions to become “the flagship Christian university in Africa for the purpose of advancing the kingdom of Christ and national development.”

Heritage Christian College has graduated four batches of students since it was accredited in 2015. HCC has achieved significant strides in training over 50 of its students and graduates to set up businesses with seed capital from its Business Incubator, equipped students to be technologically inclined and fostered a unique atmosphere of faith, interaction and international exposure through its international faculty.

This was achieved through events such as Impact Week Ghana 2022 which brought 29 International Coaches for a week of Design Thinking Training held at HCC, the first of its kind hosted by a private university in Ghana.
