The Eid-ul-Fitr celebration in Ho took a solemn turn as members of the Muslim community fervently prayed for the speedy recovery of Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, who fell ill last Friday, March 28.
Prayers were also offered for divine guidance for President John Dramani Mahama and for continued peace in the country.
Leading the prayers, Imam Muniru Ali reminded worshippers that the period of fasting was meant to instill discipline, piety, and moral uprightness. He urged Muslims to extend these values beyond Ramadan and integrate them into their daily lives.
“The end of the fasting does not signify an era of evil acts,” he cautioned.
He further stressed that a constant fear of Allah is essential for fostering peace and harmony in society, urging Muslims to continue avoiding sinful behaviour even after breaking the fast.
“Allah will open doors of great opportunities for those who fear Him and live in honesty all the time,” Imam Ali assured.
The Volta Regional Police Commander, ACP Wisdom Akorli, also addressed the gathering, urging the Muslim community to lead efforts in promoting peace and harmony within their communities in the broader national interest.
The event was attended by traditional rulers and representatives of other security agencies, reflecting a shared commitment to unity and national cohesion.
