Huawei Technologies Ghana has donated ultramodern ICT Lab facilities to the Ghana Telecom University College (GTUC) Tesano main Campus, Accra in the bid to enhance the teaching of ICT and Engineering to help boost the ICT talent ecosystem development in Ghana.

The donation counts as one of Huawei’s numerous Corporate Social Responsibility in the ICT domain which aims at providing Tertiary institutions focused on ICT and Engineering with the needed support to develop and advance the knowledge of local ICT talents, whiles offering hands-on training to equip students for the job market.

By equipping the ICT Laboratory, Huawei hopes to help GTUC offer hands-on training to professionals and students studying Network and Telecom Engineering related programmes. 

In ensuring that the lab is fully operational and serving its purpose, Huawei has equipped it with nine ultramodern facilities worth over ¢100, 000 which include five switches (three Cloud Engine S5737-S24P4X and two S5731_S24P4X) as well as four routers (four AR6140_9G_ACC13_Britian)

Over the past three years, Huawei has partnered about 12 universities in the country.

Ghana Telecom University College, being one of the country’s top universities is the first to benefit from the initiative this year.

In March 2020, Huawei offered free professional ICT training focused on HCIA- Routing and Switching for over 30 lecturers and IT professionals in Ghana at GTUC.

The company also donated similar lab facilities to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Cape Coast University.

Huawei is committed to building resilient and long-lasting partnerships with educational institutions focused on promoting ICT in Ghana and intends to extend the gesture to other schools like the University of Ghana.

Huawei launched the ICT Academy in Ghana and 2017 and has since through its partnership with over 12 leading Ghanaian Universities trained over 3500 students in latest ICT technologies as part of its commitment to the government of Ghana to train over 5000 Ghanaians in ICT by 2024.

Huawei will continue to stay committed to ICT development through meaningful CSR projects to help bridge the digital divide as Information Communication Technologies bring digital to every individual, home and organization for a fully connected intelligent world.
