Ghanaian youngster, Lawrence Agyekum, says he is ready to challenge for a starting spot at Red Bull Salzburg despite the competition in the team.
The budding midfielder join the Austrian side back in February 2022 but was sent on loan to Liefering to gain more playing time having just arrived from the Ghana Premier League where he played for WAFA.
At Liefering, Agyekum had the opportunity to play in the UEFA Youth League where his side finished as runners-up.
Speaking on the loan, he told Joy Sports in an exclusive interview, “The loan spell really went well. The league games. I had the chance to play in the UEFA Youth League and we came out second.”
“I played well. With my technique, pressing, work rate, I really helped the team.”
The 19-year-old made his first team debut prior to the break for the 2022 FIFA World Cup but says he is now itching to get more minutes with the senior team.
“I know there will be a lot of competition in the team but I am ready. I am always ready even if it’s a minute I will get to play, I am ready to put in all my effort to help the team win,” he added.
The player will also be hoping to make an appearance in Europe with Salzburg dropping to the Europa League.
