The National Women Organizer of the National Democratic Congress, Madam Anita De-Souza has denied ever running her vehicle over seven people at Atiwa during Tuesday’s by-election.
Madam De-Souza said contrary to allegations leveled against her, she was rather in danger of being lynched by an irate New Patriotic Party youth who had set up an illegal roadblock in the constituency.
When she broke her silence on the matter on Asempa FM’s ‘Ekosii Sen’ on Wednesday, she recounted that when she got to a spot called the Muna Spot near Anyinam after returning from Abomosu, the youth initially opened up the roadblock ostensibly to allow her to go through. She was subsequently proceeding through the roadblock when she was asked to roll down her windows. She said she complied with the demand, however one of the road blockers screamed an order for the road to be blocked again because the occupants were among a group being sought.
She said realizing that her life could be in danger, she sped off while the youth were attempting to block the road again and reported the matter to the Anyinam Police who instructed her to report the case to another post.
Waxing Biblical and full of praise for God for saving her life, Anita De-Souza said she was also very happy that no one died in the incident contrary to claims by her detractors.
Checks with the Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ransford Moses Ninson early on confirmed that no death had been recorded throughout the by-election.
He however admitted that the process recorded some violence which left some people with injuries.
