Former Member of Parliament for Asokwa Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has revealed how he had made several but unsuccessful attempts, to have himself arrested and jailed by the current administration.
Kofi Jumah’s reason is that, all those who suffered political persecution – Kweku Baako Jnr, Kwesi Pratt Jnr and lately Kenneth Agyei Kuranchie – suddenly became heroes after they were released from jail.
Speaking on Badwam on Adom TV Thursday July 11, 2013, Mr. Jumah confessed how he tried on countless occasions to provoke the current administration by accusing them of doing things wrongly with the hope of being arrested so he can grab media attention.
The former Kumasi Mayor said he was disappointed that his quest to become an ex-convict on many occasions, has failed to materialize.
He was commenting on the release of the Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Searchlight newspaper, Kenneth Agyei Kurankchie in the early hours of Thursday, after serving 10 days prison.
The senior journalist was sentenced by the panel of judges hearing the election petition over an editorial he authored in the paper, which they deemed criminally contempt.
