Former Communications Minister Dr Omane Boamah has denied being among the young crop of politicians who were engaged to 'talk back' to former President Jerry John Rawlings.
In a press release the medical doctor cum politician said Prof Kwamena Ahwoi's claiming he and others engaged him and the former Education Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, is "wholly and completely inaccurate and untrue."
Dr Omane stated that as a young man and politician with core convictions, he could never allow himself to be used by anyone to talk back at Mr Rawlings.
In his recently launched book, 'Working with Rawlings', the former Local Government Minister revealed that some young politicians were engaged to get back at the former President to stop him from constantly attacking the late President Mills.
“Any time former President Rawlings attacked or insulted President Mills publicly, one of the younger members of the party would take him on publicly not with insults but logic.”
According to Prof. Ahwoi, these were the younger party members christened "babies with sharp teeth" by Mr Rawlings.
According to him, his principled stand in defending the late President Mills against attacks he thought were undeserving was borne out of his respect and appreciation of the personality of the deceased.
"The suggestions that my defence of the late president was part of deliberate "strategy" by elders is irksome to me. It does not reflect my personality as a politician of conviction and not of convenience.
