President-elect of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured Ghanaians that he will do his best not to let them down.
According to him, he is also determined to work hard and justify the confidence reposed in him by the electorate.
Expressing his gratitude, Akufo-Addo stated that, the policies initiated by his government will build a prosperous and progressive Ghana.
His comments comes after he won the tightly contested 2020 presidential election.
He polled 6,730, 413 which is 51.59% of the total valid cast nationwide on December 7.
The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa who is the Returning Officer of the 2020 presidential election announced the results Wednesday.
His closest contender, John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) polled 6, 214, 889 which gives him 47.36% of the total votes cast.
Delivering a victory speech at his Nima residence, the newly elected President also noted that, Ghanaians through the outcome of the Parliamentary results have made it loud and clear that the two major political parties must work together for the good of the country.
“Now is the time for each and every one of us, irrespective of our political affiliation to unite and join hands, stand shoulder-shoulder and work hard to place Ghana where she is supposed to be."
