Mr Kwesi Pratt Jnr., Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, has wished pressure group Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) well ahead of their demonstration against fuel price hikes tomorrow.
He said he is happy to be alive to witness this demonstration by AFAG and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) because a similar cause he engaged himself in some few years ago elicited insults from members of the then ruling government and party.
The Committee for Joint Action, a pressure group believed to be associated with the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) also embarked on similar protests against fuel increases prior to the 2008 elections.
According to Mr Pratt, the group was mistreated by police when they were fired with tear gas, therefore he wondered why the pro-NPP group has now found it convenient to pursue such a cause.
The Editor, who was speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo on Tuesday, explained that he has always been against increases in fuel prices because it affects prices of all other commodities and worsens people’s living conditions.
He was hopeful that the demonstration by AFAG would inure significant benefit for all Ghanaians.
Kwesi Pratt pleaded with the Police administration not to try to stop the group in anyway because it is their democratic right.
He also appealed to the government to be a bit considerate whenever there is going to be fuel price increase.
