The Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG) is set to hold a two-day training on essentials of marine cargo insurance.
The training is slated for October 13 and 14, 2022 at the Mensvic Grand Hotel and it seeks to impart technical knowledge to insurance brokers in Ghana on the placement and negotiation of terms of marine cargo insurance, which provides cover against risks incurred by importers in the process of shipping goods into the country.
It is expected to cover various aspects including the Cargo clause, modern trends and global issues on cargo insurance.
Head of Marine and Aviation, Munich Insurance Company of Africa (Pty) Limited, South Africa, Hilton Derek Adams will be the facilitator for the training.
Hilton D. Adams joined Munich Re about 36 years ago. He worked within the Marine/Aviation Department from day one. Over the years, he also did all Classes of Business in addition to his Marine / Aviation Responsibilities as a Client Manager.

Hilton is currently Head of Marine & Aviation – plus Client Management duties and responsible for all Technical matters for the entire African Business handled by Munich Re – Africa.
He is widely travelled and has also had International Marine experience obtained while working at Munich Re – Head Office in Munich for a period of four years and still travels frequently to Europe/Munich.
He is an Executive Member of the Associated Marine Underwriters in South Africa (AMUSA) as well as an IFY Technical Committee Member of International Union of Marine Insurers (IUMI). Surprise, Surprise, Hilton loves sailing as well.
The Commissioner of Insurance, Dr. Justice Ofori has been invited as Special Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker at the Opening Ceremony of the Training.
