The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) is requesting Civil Society Organisations, associations, public institutions, private sector institutions, and the general public to submit questions to its committee ahead of the presidential and vice presidential debates.
According to the IEA, the debate will focus on five thematic areas: macroeconomic management, national development, energy security, management of natural resources, and the development of agriculture, industry, and service sectors.
The other areas are private sector development, governance, social sector, environmental security, leadership, judicial delivery, and foreign policy.
All questions are to be sent by email to iea@ieagh.org or delivered by hand to No. 28 Independence Avenue, Ridge, by September 14.
This information was contained in a press release issued on September 5.
The Institute explained that this was a “form of a policy dialogue engagement at which the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidates will present their viewpoints, plans and programmes, and also point out weaknesses in the policies of co-contestants and present alternatives to those policies and programmes.”
The release added that this will enable the electorate to receive firsthand information on the policies and programmes of each candidate, allowing them to make informed decisions.
The first presidential debate is scheduled for October 22, while the vice presidential debate is set for November 5, 2024, both in Accra.
The second presidential debate will take place on November 19 in Kumasi, in the Ashanti region.
