Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP) took her turn at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) Evening Encounter with Presidential Candidates ahead of the December 7 polls.
Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings touched on issues on the economy, energy, education, health and other sectors.
The evening encounter is part of the IEA’s efforts to promote issue-based elections in Ghana. The Evening Encounters are a build up to the 2016 IEA Debate series.
Nana Konadu called for support and awards for dedicated health service workers. She also warned the current tax system is crippling businesses and said it is counterproductive to economic development.

Introduction
The economic and social upheavals we are witnessing in some nations around the world must awaken that sense of urgency in all of us. We as Ghanaians cannot take our future for granted and assume that ‘it shall be well’ even as we live the reality of “it is not well”. You and I – all of us – are the stakeholders of Ghana and therefore it is our sole responsibility to ensure that our nation has in place the most effective constitution that guides our leadership, and the most effective policies and strategies that make us a prosperous nation. It is within our power as citizens of Ghana to ensure that Ghana is on a clear visionary path.
It is not enough to hope and pray that ‘things will get better’ when the stark reality indicates that our nation is on the wrong path. That is why I am running for president; to put Ghana on the right track again.
I am the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party, NDP, and we believe in laying the foundations of a prosperous future for Ghana so that all Ghanaians can have the confidence in a country built on a system that rewards their hard work and their sacrifice.
