Lawyer of Superintendent George Asare, Alfred Paapa Darkwah has doubted the Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare's re-conciliatory words before Parliament's ad-hoc committee.
The IGP on Tuesday stretched an olive branch to the senior police officers who had levelled a number of allegations against him.
But Supt. Asare's counsel believes the IGP did that for the cameras.
According to him, the alleged leaked tape to oust the IGP had been in the public domain for some time, and that if the IGP wanted to deal with it, he would have done so much earlier.
Asked whether he is willing for some sort of dialogue between the senior police officers and the IGP, to reconcile and move on, he said: “The cameras were there. This issue happened not today. Maybe you could find out whether since this issue came he has had any interaction with them?
“Or is it because today the cameras were there and then he had to behave in a way that could be captured by the cameras, I don’t know.”
He, however, stated that the issue of reconciliation is a personal matter between the officers and the IGP, since the committee is only interested in the allegations made and not their personal relationship.
He also noted that his client stands by every allegation he made during his appearance before the committee, adding that his client will be given the opportunity to prove his claims against the IGP.
