Ghanaian businessman Nana Kwame Bediako aka Freedom Jacob Caesar has announced his intention to run as an independent presidential candidate in the upcoming election.

Mr Bediako cited his unsuccessful attempts to register his political party as the reason for his decision.

In an interview with Citi TV on Monday, January 15, Bediako expressed his commitment to building a middle-income nation if elected, with a focus on creating job opportunities for the youth.

He stressed that his government would prioritise providing opportunities for Ghanaian youth to actively contribute to the nation's development.

“We wanted to register a political party, but they didn’t give us a license. We are still moving with our movement. I’m running in the December polls as an independent presidential candidate.

“Because they didn’t give us any license or even provisional license. You will see me on the ballot on December 7.

“The governance of the country is poor, the government is the problem. We need to be responsible for the leaders we choose.”

“In the last 4 decades, between the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party, there hasn’t been any young person who has dared to stand up and say he’s coming. I’m the unifier between the youth and the government. I’m for the people who need change; I’m for the neutral people, and I don’t belong to any political party. We aim to build a middle-income nation by creating jobs for the youth,” he assured.

In the meantime, he has encouraged Ghanaians to redirect their focus towards the substance of his message rather than the ancillary details.

"They are just looking at the glittery part and who is the star and all of that. Don't just concentrate on the messenger, you need to concentrate on the message hence that's why I came with a mask. Because I was asking the country which one are you choosing? Are you choosing the face that you want to find? Or you're going to look for the message that this person is bringing?" he quizzed.
