A former Member of Parliament for La Dade-Kotopon, Nii Amasah Namoale has recounted how hard life has been since he left office.
Mr Namoale, who was once a Deputy Minister for the Agriculture Ministry says since he lost his renowned positions in 2017, he has been struggling to make ends meet.
As a lawmaker and Minister, Mr Namoale said he enjoyed the perks at the time. However, things have gone downhill since he was voted out of office.
Sharing a bitter experience of life after Parliament, the former legislator said all efforts to find a job have proved futile.
Speaking to Adom News, Mr Namoale said he now depends on the benevolence of friends and family to survive.
“The country hasn't made any arrangement for lawmakers to survive on when they leave Parliament. I have searched for jobs since I left and I haven't found any. So if it wasn't for the support of my friends and family, life would have been very difficult.
"Also some of the people I helped while in office, visit me once in a while and give me cash," he told Adom News.
He also gave instances where some of his former colleagues are battling health conditions and are not able to help themselves.
"I can't mention their names but some are so poor that, they cannot take care of their families,” he noted.
Despite these challenges, Mr Namoale maintained he never regrets serving the good people of La Dade -Kotopon.
