The Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has underscored the significance of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and research institutions to the governance system of the country.
At a meeting with a number of CSOs in Accra on Wednesday, November 20, Dr. Bawumia expressed his desire to work closely with CSOs and research institutions as President, because of the depth of their knowledge and what they bring on board.
"My father used to tell me that if you want to have sense, talk to sensible people. I believe you, the CSOs have a lot to offer. And I will be looking forward to working with you and research institutions, including the universities very closely," Dr. Bawumia said.
Dr. Bawumia shared with them several things he has helped the government with as Vice President, as well as his own vision and policies which he intends to implement as President in many sectors.

Among them, was his continuous quest to deploy digital technology to transform the economy and the nation, as well as to fight corruption - an exercise he called for the support of the CSOs.
"I want to build a country of inclusiveness with good governance and transparency that all of you care about," Dr Bawumia said.
"We are going to be fighting a lot of entrenched interests in many sectors and I will really need the support of the CSOs to fight it," he said.
"People are making money from the status quo so they don't want anything that fights corruption. But the interest of the nation should be paramount, not the interest of some few people. I believe we can do it together."
