Former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, says he has not received any official communication from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) regarding claims that he has been sanctioned by the party.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Prof Frimpong-Boateng stated that although he has seen statements circulating in the media and on social platforms, he has never met, spoken to, or had any personal interaction with the party’s General Secretary.
“I have not met him before. I don’t know him, and I have never spoken to him. I am waiting for official communication from the party,” he said on Tuesday, January 12, 2026.
He cautioned the General Secretary to be careful in his public pronouncements, noting that as a lawyer, he ought to act with restraint and responsibility.
Prof Frimpong-Boateng further questioned the credibility of claims that the General Secretary had been “hired” to make certain statements against him, describing the situation as “very sad.”
According to him, he has remained consistent in his stance on issues affecting the party over the years and can produce his past writings to demonstrate his long-standing concern for the NPP.
“This is a party people have suffered to build. Now, some people who have only been around for a few years want to destroy it,” he said, adding that the General Secretary should step aside to allow the “real party” to stand.
Prof Frimpong-Boateng dismissed reports that the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) had met to sack him, insisting the claim was false.
“They said NEC met and issued a statement to sack me, yet at the time they claimed the meeting had ended, it wasn’t even 6, while their programme was scheduled from 9 to 10 pm. They can go ahead and issue any statement. I won’t miss them,” he stressed.
He accused the leadership of immaturity, misuse of power, corruption, arrogance, and silencing dissent within the party, arguing that these actions have weakened the NPP.
“The party brought the government to power, so if the government is doing wrong, the party must be able to say so. But that did not happen,” he lamented.
Prof Frimpong-Boateng also alleged irregularities during the party’s internal elections, claiming that some delegates were bribed while others were coerced to vote, contributing to the party’s electoral defeat.
Instead of being transparent, he said, party leaders have chosen to conceal issues, including alleged irregularities in the electoral register, which he claims have angered many party members.
“They are the fake ones. They should leave the party. The NPP I know is no longer there,” he declared.
He further compared the current leadership unfavourably to former General Secretary Dan Botwe, noting that, despite being younger at the time, he managed the party far better.
“You don’t want us to talk about the bad things,” he added, insisting that someone must stand up to speak against the destruction of the party.
