Police in Kumasi are holding a 23-year-old Ghanaian in connection with the death of an Indian gold dealer who was gunned down yesterday in Kumasi.Sandip Mansukbai Sheladiya, 24, owner of Rajan and Riya gold buying company was found in a pool of blood by his cook Thursday evening in his office at Adiembra, a suburb of Kumasi.Police are investigating a suspect in connection with the crime.The gold dealer popularly known as Sandip was found in a pool of blood by his cook in his office at Adiembra.He was lying face down in a pool of blood with few signs of struggle.The cook who gave her name as Charity, told the police, she saw a taxi-cab parked by the roadside and a tall dark man coming out of the office.Some residents in the area say they saw a taxi-cab pull up some metres away from the office before the unpleasant incident.Friends and close associates who were at the crime scene ruled out robbery.
They claim nothing was stolen from the office.Few minutes after police arrived at the scene, some local youth arrested a young man who was half naked and bleeding from a stomach injury.The suspect, who gave his name as Jacob Foster, denies involvement in the crime.He tells the police he sustained the deep knife wound in his stomach from an armed robbery attack.He is currently receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital while police conduct further investigations.
