Insurance companies are joining hands with the Economic and Organized Crime Office to fight fraud in the insurance industry.
The partnership is to assist the unit which was previously known as the Serious Fraud Office to equip its officers to address the challenge of fraudulent claims.
The president of the Ghana Insurers Association, Ben Acolatse said the industry had been plagued by issues such as fake death claims, medical certificates, and police certificates.
But the institutions from which these fake documents come, he said, are “institutions on which we should rely for our integrity so that if people are able to fake police report, then where are we as a nation?"
He believes the partnership will play an important role in reducing fraud in the insurance sector of the economy.
