The Ministry of the Interior has issued an emergency weather alert, warning residents of the Greater Accra Region to remain vigilant over the risk of flooding ahead of forecast rainfall expected in the early hours of Monday, July 6.

In a text message circulated to residents on Sunday evening, the Ministry indicated that moderate rainfall is expected between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., with a 40 per cent probability of occurrence.

The Ministry cautioned that communities in low-lying areas could experience flooding and advised residents to take the necessary precautions to protect lives and property.

It also urged the public to avoid driving or walking through flooded roads, warning that rising floodwaters could pose serious risks to motorists and pedestrians.

The alert comes amid heightened concerns over flooding in Greater Accra following recent heavy rains that inundated several communities, damaged property, displaced residents and prompted renewed calls for improved flood preparedness and response measures.
