In the spirit of International Women’s Day 2025, and its resonant theme of ' Accelerate Action ', YesSheCan International, an astute NGO for Women Empowerment, has partnered with the University of Ghana (UG), Volta Hall, shining a spotlight on the transformative power of women in entrepreneurship.

Retracing the global call for rapid advancements in gender equality, the 2nd edition of the YesSheCan International seminar was on the theme, "Unlocking Women’s Potential Through Entrepreneurship, Effective Communication and Negotiation ", to recognise and enact strategies to drive women's progress in employment, communications and networking.

Delivering the opening remarks, founder of YesSheCan International, Mary Anane Awuku who doubles as Executive Director of Facility Pro and Brain Hills International School called for a collective commitment to accelerate the growth of young women, emphasising the need for improved market access, financial inclusion and institutional support.

Held at the Cedi Conference Centre, Economics Department of the University of Ghana, Legon, Mrs Awuku underscored the importance of empowering young women in business saying," At YesSheCan, we believe that every woman deserves the opportunity to reach her full potential. We believe that by unlocking your potential, you will not only transform your own lives but also become catalysts for positive change in your communities, industries, and the world at large, she stated.

In delivering the keynote address, Rabi Brimah, founder and CEO of Inspiring Lives Consult said, while women entrepreneurs contribute significantly to Ghana's economy, limited access to sustainable markets remains a major challenge.

She urged stakeholders to intensify efforts in fostering an inclusive society where women and girls have equal opportunities and representation.

"Let's unite to accelerate progress and work together to build a fair and just society for all", Prof Rosina noted.

Harriet Dodoo, Dr Racheal Hansen and Gifty Boatemaa Annan in a panel discussion also took the opportunity to encourage women and girls to remain determined and confident in their abilities.
They praised their courage and strength to attend this all-important seminar describing them as a source of inspiration and a testament to the potential of women shaping the future.

“We are grateful to see young ladies rise to the top of their potential. We hope that the knowledge you have acquired here will empower you with the tools and strategies necessary to overcome obstacles, shatter the glass ceiling, and achieve your dreams", they said.

Reflecting on their participation, some students expressed their satisfaction for being a part of the inspiring motivation from these renowned speakers, which allowed them to broaden their knowledge about unearthing their full potential for a better future.

This International Women’s Day, Ghana is sending a clear message: Accelerating action for women entrepreneurs is Accelerating action for a stronger, more equitable, and environmentally conscious nation.
