The Editor of the “Al- Hajj” newspaper, Alhaji Iddrisu Bature is questioning whether it is a crime for President Mills to own a mansion.
He asked this question in reaction to media reports that President Mills has been given a mansion by Regimanuel Gray Limited.
The Presidency and Regimanuel have denied the claim.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s current Affairs talk show “Ekosii Sen” on Tuesday, Bature refuted claims that the President has been given a mansion as a gift.
According to him the NPP is needlessly dragging the President’s name into serious public ridicule wanting to put the President through the same crises Nana Akufo-Addo is facing.
Alhaji Bature said he will be the first to criticize President Mills if he does anything wrong, however, he said, the President must be given the due respect.
He said the President is not corrupted as some media reports are suggesting, explaining that President Mills has elevated the national leadership of Ghana to a level that anybody who wants to lead the country should emulate.
He said that the NPP wants to attach needless importance to issues which are not important. “If the President builds a mansion is it a crime?” he quibbled.
