Media personality MC Portfolio has responded to BullGod’s claim that music videos are no longer relevant.
In an interview on Daybreak Hitz with DJ Slim, MC Portfolio shared his concerns regarding the importance of music videos in contemporary artistry.
"Not having a music video is not a professional work," he said while refuting BullGod's assertion.
He highlighted that in a competitive market, the absence of visually engaging content can hinder an artiste's image, suggesting that it does not effectively position them as serious creatives in the eyes of potential investors.
“It doesn’t really give you that kind of reverence that we have to put on your brands,” he highlighted.
Prior to that, artiste manager and music expert BullGod advised musicians not to waste money on music videos, as they are no longer commercially viable and people are not consuming video content like they used to.
“Do not spend time doing music videos in 2025, it doesn’t make sense anymore,” he noted.
BullGod emphasised the diminishing relevance of video content, indicating that "people don't even consume it no more”.
Portfolio's remarks highlights the increasingly visual nature of the music industry, where a strong video presence bolsters an artistes brand and outreach.
