Japan Motors Trading Co. Ltd. (JMTC) has supported the 40th National Farmers’ Day celebration by donating two powerful Yamaha Motorcycles valued at GHS 80,000.00.
The motorcycles were handed over to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) and the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MoFAD) in a ceremony underscoring Japan Motors’ dedication to Ghana’s agricultural sector particularly towards the hardworking farmers and fisherfolks.
Representing the Ministries, the Acting Chief Director of MOFA, Mr. Paul Siamah, and the Director of Finance and Administration at MoFAD, Ms. Rosemary Abbey, received the motorcycles on behalf of their respective agencies.
At the handover ceremony, Mr. Abdul-Somad Alhassan Musah, Assistant Managing Director of Japan Motors, expressed the company’s enduring commitment to supporting Ghanaian farmers: “We are donating our trusted Yamaha Motorcycles with the goal of encouraging farmers to further strengthen their efforts in the export of local goods. Japan Motors has consistently supported Farmers’ Day celebrations, and we are honoured to stand with the Ministry in this long-standing partnership.”
The Acting Chief Director of MOFA, Paul Siamah, thanked Japan Motors for their unwavering support, emphasizing the importance of such contributions in advancing the farming sector.
“The Government of Ghana and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture are deeply grateful to Japan Motors for their continuous backing of our nation’s farmers. The donated motorbikes are timely and will help support our farmers, especially in mitigating potential food shortages,” he said.
Rosemary Abbey, Director of Finance and Administration at MoFAD, echoed this sentiment, expressing gratitude for Japan Motors’ support of the fishing industry. “Japan Motors’ contribution will undoubtedly benefit the fishing industry and the nation as a whole, reinforcing our commitment to the sector's sustainable development.”
40th Farmers’ Day celebration
This year’s National Farmers’ Day celebration will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, in Accra under the theme, “Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security”.
The event will highlight Ghana’s dedication to adapting its agricultural practices in response to climate change. The celebration honors the essential role farmers play in Ghana’s economic growth and food security, and recognizes the efforts required to build a resilient agricultural sector.
