The 39-year-old widow and mother of six, Matilda Lamptey, today received a cash donation from Joy FM.
Items including bags of rice and tubers of yam, oil and used clothing were also presented to her.
The donation came from Joy FM and listeners of the station after a report on her plight was aired to coincide with International Women’s Day.
Joy News Editor Matilda Asante Asiedu made the presentation on behalf of the station and urged Matilda to use the donation wisely.
The widow thanked all the donors and made a promise to make good use of the money.
Matilda Lamptey’s husband had been in a happy marriage for 17 years until her husband passed away after a short illness two years ago.
Since then, she has gone through tough times to make ends meet; she has been unable to pay the mounting fees of her children.
Matilda told Joy FM her children are not able to study at night because electricity supply to her room has been cut for non-payment.
Meanwhile, Joy FM would like to use this opportunity to thank all those who contributed to help raise this amount for the widow and her children.
