What is football without controversy?
And the first big one has been seen in the Ladies Penalty Shootout of the 2018 Joy Sports Invitational.
The game was between McDan Shipping and GCB Bank, and it was the finale. Tempers were high and the atmosphere was tense.
Nana Ama Asamoah stepped up for the third kick which would have given her side the advantage.
Her powerful drive beat the goalkeeper and cannoned off the top right corner of the post, and fell onto the line. Or did it?
GCB Bank staff insisted it was a goal; McDan staff did not agree. The ref agreed that the entire circumference of the ball did not cross the line.
The Video Assistant Ref of the day ruled that the decision was not clear and so it had to be replayed.
Nana Ama could not score at the second time of asking and McDan went on to win.
