Outspoken politician, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah has launched a blitzing attack on Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa describing him as a “spin doctor”. Sekou could not fathom why the Deputy Information Minister takes delight in churning out "falsehood" instead of propagating the Better Ghana Agenda the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) promised Ghanaians. Dr. Nkrumah was commenting on the supposed judgement debts exposed by the Deputy Information Minister who has also accused the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag-bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo of double standards in the judgment debt issues. Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa at a press conference in Accra Monday revealed that Nana Akufo-Addo then Attorney-General in the erstwhile Kufuor administration, directed government to pay $1.1million to a Swiss company, Great Cape for breach of contract in 1978 hence Nana cannot exonerate himself from the payment of judgement debts. But the NPP has debunked the claim describing it as an NDC propaganda to justify its corrupt deeds in government. However, speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah stated emphatically that Okudzeto Ablakwa is just an errand boy for Ato Awhoi and other NDC bigwigs at the presidency. He claimed that the Deputy Information Minister in order to secure his job is left with no other choice than to submit to the whims and caprices of the power brokers in government. Sekou noted that Ablakwa's attempt to paint the Mills-led administration white in the eyes of Ghanaians has fallen flat in his face. “I think we should ignore these errand boys and psychics like Ablakwa who are errand boys for Ato Ahwoi and the big shots in the NDC,” Sekou claimed. The son of Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah believes the judgement debt brouhaha is of national interest therefore should be tackled devoid of partisan politics. “Relegating this whole judgement debt saga to a contest between NDC and NPP is not helping matters. Ghanaians are seeing that politicians are taking them for a ride and working things out with their cronies to empty our coffers,” he said. Sekou Nkrumah also took a swipe at the Information Ministry which he says is now a communication branch of the ruling party. According to him, the Information Ministry has shunned its responsibility of projecting the government in a good light and is now covering up the root in the Mills-led administration. Sekou Nkrumah indicated that Ghanaians are wide awake hence government cannot throw dust into their eyes. “People are tired and fed up with this kind of politics. We need to raise the bar and the image of Ghana as a whole. It can only be done if we have people who would take Ghanaians serious by addressing their needs”.
