The Judiciary Service Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has given the government two weeks ultimatum to release the outstanding subventions from May 1 to September, without further delay. According to them they would advise themselves if government failed to release the subventions within two weeks. They gave this ultimatum at a press conference organised in Cape Coast on Tuesday to express their dissatisfaction about the non-payment of subventions due the Judicial Service. Addressing the press the Chairman of Interim Management Committee (IMC) of JUSAG, Francis Brakwa noted that the consistent feet dragging of government to release subventions was gradually bringing to a halt the smooth effective and efficient running of the service. Mr, Brakwa bemoaned the situation where management of the Judicial Service had strenuously contacted the appropriate authority for the release of the money but to no avail. "We want to put on records our misgivings about government's attitude towards the Judicial Service relative to subventions" he added. He stated that the payment of the subventions was their constitutional right and would not allow-the government to deny them their due. It would be recalled that in April 2012, JUSAG in a press statement called on the government to release all the outstanding subventions within this year.
