Karpowership Ghana has reaffirmed its leadership in social impact and sustainable development after securing three major honours at the 2025 Sustainability and Social Investment (SSI) Awards, held over the weekend.
The company was celebrated as the Best Company in Girl-Child Education and Empowerment Programme, Best Company in Stakeholder Engagement and Community Relations, and Sandra Amarquaye, the Corporate Communications Manager, received the prestigious Community Development and Relations Leadership Impact Award.
These recognitions underscore Karpowership’s intentional and long-standing commitment to advancing inclusive development, empowering young girls, and strengthening relationships with communities across its operational areas.
Over the past year, the company has executed several impactful initiatives focused on promoting gender equality and expanding opportunities for young women.
These include a comprehensive mentorship programme for girls, a dynamic STEM development programme, an increased number of female beneficiaries on its scholarship scheme, and the rollout of an all-female internship programme designed to prepare women for leadership roles in the power and energy space.
Karpowership’s investment in girl-child education reflects its commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 5 – Gender Equality, ensuring that more girls have access to education, technical training, and opportunities that prepare them for the future.
To further drive this mission, the company recently signed an MoU with the World Bank’s Women in Energy Network (WEN-Africa) to increase female participation and leadership within the energy sector.
Beyond its gender-focused programmes, Karpowership was also recognised for its robust and transparent stakeholder engagement framework.
Emphasising the central role of stakeholders in its operations, Sandra Amarquaye, Communications Manager, noted;
“We have a clearly structured engagement strategy that ensures timely, consistent, and meaningful interaction with all our stakeholders.
"They are integral to our operations. This approach strengthens relationships and enhances the value we deliver to the communities where we operate.”
Receiving her award, Sandra expressed gratitude and emphasised the company’s commitment to deepening community development efforts.
She said, “This recognition strengthens our resolve to keep transforming lives, especially for young girls whose futures can be reshaped through opportunity and empowerment.
"At Karpowership, we believe true impact happens when communities feel seen, supported, and included and we are committed to walking that journey with them every day.”
Karpowership Ghana reiterated its dedication to expanding its social investment initiatives, nurturing impactful partnerships, and championing programmes that uplift communities, empower youth, and contribute to sustainable development.
