Kennedy Agyapong furiously storms off E-TV set

Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin North Wednesday morning furiously stormed out of E-TV Ghana, an Accra based tv station while engaged in a lively debate on their morning show, Breakfast TV. The NPP stalwart did not take kindly to the fact that the host of the show, Bismark Brown told him to stick to the issue mooted on the floor after he had referred to former President Rawlings' regime as Jesus Christ and his disciples. Kennedy Agyapong was adamant that he had not insulted Rawlings and recalled of him making statements in 1979 and 1981 that indicated him as such. Alfred Agbesi, an NDC MP for Ashaiman and a panellist on the show, interjected Agyapong, calling on him to retract the Jesus Christ comment he had made on Rawlings. The MP for Assin North however was displeased with Agbesi's interjection, claiming he was making an introduction to the topic on board. Agyapong later refused to comment on the issue after Brown urged him to, claiming the host was not comfortable with his submission. The Assin North MP further asserted that Brown and Agbesi were insulting his intelligence, leading to his walking out from the show. "Next time I'm not coming to your show...for me to drive all the way here from Burma Camp for you to just suppress my facts... I have not insulted anybody here," he said. Referring to the host he said, "Change the topic. I'm not going to comment on that (the topic)...I don't want to put up any behaviour over here. If you like, I'll walk out." Ripping the microphone from his shirt, the MP walked off the set to the astonishment of both Agbesi and Brown. The topic that generated this controversy was the Daily Searchlight's headline story, . The paper reported Arthur Kennedy, a leading member of the NPP as describing President Mills as politically blind since he (President Mills) could not see the achievements made by former President Kufuor.
