Joy FM's former Super Morning show host Komla Dumor has began his new role as an anchor for BBC world News televisions prime time breakfast show segment replacing Jonathan Charles.
Since joining the BBC less than 5 years ago Komla's career has made an impressive progress. He started with presenting Network Africa for World Service radio and within two years became a lead presenter for the World Service's flagship global radio program the World Today.
Komla has anchored a number of key programs for radio including Obama's visit to Ghana and the bloody crisis in Northern Nigeria. More recently he anchored BBC World service's coverage of the World cup in South Africa - including hosting the final press event for FIFA and the Organizing committee for SA2010.
Last year, he was the anchor for the US midterm congressional elections. His move to television came as no surprise as in 2009 he became the first host of a new BBC business program to Africa - Africa Business Report.
As the host of this groundbreaking show, Komla travelled to over 15 countries around Africa meeting the continents leading entrepreneurs and profiling African innovations.
In January this year it was announced that Komla Dumor and Naga Munchetty would replace Jonathan Charles as the new presenters of the prime time morning television news for the UK domestic and global audience.
Komla will continue to present the World Today for World service radio on the days he is not on television.
It’s been a little over a decade since the former Ghanaian journalist of the year walked through the doors of Joy FM as a humble traffic news presenter riding on the back of a Vespa motorbike.
