Ex-president John Agyekum Kufuor is touting his contributions which led to Ghana's discovery of oil in commercial quantities.
The West African country was officially registered into the committee of oil producing nations after the President John Atta Mills opened the valve to pour offshore oil from the Jubilee Fields on Wednesday.
It was part of a short ceremony to herald Ghana’s production of oil in commercial quantities and to applaud the contributions of key personnel whose invaluable roles led to the oil find.
Ex-presidents John Kufuor and John Rawlings who rarely share the same platform were both present at the ceremony.
Speaking to Joy FM’s Central Regional Correspondent Kweku Owusu Peprah - ex-president Kufuor in whose administration oil was struck in 2007 - was glorious.
“The finds were during my administration. It was my administration that gave the bloc to the two companies that found the Jubilee Fields and joined it together to name it Jubilee. It was under me. So I feel like the parent to the whole situation," he said.
Mr Kufuor added that even if he had not been invited to the ceremony, he would still have made his way to the official outdooring of Ghana as an oil producing country to congratulate the stakeholders.
