President of Sports Writers Association of Ghana, SWAG , Kwabena Yeboah has cautioned the country not to expect the Black Stars to reap success out of Kwesi Nyantakyi’s appointment as first vice president of the Confederation of Africa Football.
Nyantakyi was appointed as the 1st vice president of CAF by Ahmad Ahmad in an Executive Committee in Bahrain last week Monday as he continued his ascension to top places in World Football.
Many football enthusiasts believes Nyantakyi’s position will pave way for some members of the GFA and other football administrators to serve CAF and will help the country to archive success in Africa football.
But according to the ace broadcaster, the country should not expect the Black Stars to benefit from the legal practitioner’s appointment as CAF vice president.
“Nyantakyi has come far in Africa football,” he told Joy Sports.
“It is a high position in football but his appointment will not guarantee success for the Black Stars. I know the country will expect much from him as the CAF vice president but he will know what to do and what not to do.
Despite confirming that he [Nyantakyi] will contest for the 2019 Ghana Football Association annual elections, Nana Agyemang who was on the Joy Sports Link also cautioned Nyantakyi to stand by his words and relinquish his position as the GFA president in 2019.
“It would be appropriate for Nyantakyi to quit his position as the Ghana Football Association President in 2019 and concentrate fully on his duties as the CAF vice president.”
Nyantakyi who is a member of the FIFA Executive Committee becomes the first Ghanaian to rise to the second highest position in Africa football.
