The Akim Oda Magistrate Court has remanded Charles Oppong, a landlord, who poured a bucket of hot water on a tenant and slapped her husband who tried to intervene.
The landlord, who is also a taxi driver, had earlier denied having unlawfully assaulted the complainant, Mr Osei Kwasi and is expected to return to court on April 26.
Police Chief Inspector Kwadwo Ahenkorah had told the court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor that the complainant is a teacher and together with his wife Madam Akosua Koramaa live in the compound of Oppong at Towobotom at Akim Oda Old Town.
He said on April 10, Madam Koramaa was bathing her children when suddenly Oppong went to her and removed a towel on a drying line, threw it on the ground and told her not to hang her stinking cloths on the drying line again.
Chief Inspector Ahenkorah said when Madam Koramaa asked the cause of the fracas, Oppong became offended and rained insults on her, adding that “do you not know that I am your landlord, what power do you have to ask me questions?”
He said, to her unawares, Oppong threw a bucket full of boiled water on Mrs Koramaa and severely assaulted her and when her husband stepped in to rescue his wife, the landlord did not spare him and slapped his face saying “it is you I have always wanted”.
