The Governing Council of the West African Insurance Institute has appointed astute insurance expert, Larry Jiagge to serve as the President of the WAII Society of Fellows.
A statement issued by the Institute said the formal installation ceremony will be held at its annual dinner of the WAII Society in December 2023.
It further noted that Larry Jiagge will through the ceremonial position bring in fresh ideas, and a wealth of experience to the body in the years ahead.
Larry Jiagge comes to the position as an accomplished expert in the insurance industry. He is the current Managing Director of Risk Management and Advisory Services Limited.
He previously served as the Managing Director/ CEO of NSIA Ghana Insurance Company Limited from 2009 to 2010. Mr Jiagge has also worked in general management and provided strategic direction to CDH Insurance Company Limited as Managing Director and CEO from 2005-2009.
From 1997 to 2005, he was General Manager in charge of Life & Health Strategic Business Unit at Metropolitan Insurance Company Limited which is now Hollard Insurance. He was responsible for all administrative, underwriting, claims and other management functions of the Business Unit.
He also commenced work towards the separation of the Life operations from the General.
The astute insurance expert has many key achievements including how he single-handedly set up the Marketing Operations of Metropolitan, making it the most vibrant and result-oriented Marketing Department in the industry which won 2 CIMG Awards under his tenure.
He also reorganised the Life Operations of Metropolitan Insurance with one of the best turn-around time in the industry and consistently achieved premium growth of 50 percent in the Life Department in more than three years running.
Larry Jiagge also reorganised and returned CDH Insurance from the brink of collapse to profitability within a period of two years while working as Project Team Leader for the successful separation of CDH Insurance Co. Ltd into CDH Insurance and CDH Life Assurance Co. Ltd.
Within the sub-region, Larry Jiagge has helped reversed the fortunes of the ECOWAS Brown Card Scheme which is a novel introduction of insurance.
He is a Barrister and a Chartered Insurer with a wealth of boardroom experience that spans across industries especially in the banking and insurance sectors.
Mr Jiagge is a strategic thinker, who is a task and result-oriented individual, with an impeccable record of achievement in insurance, finance, marketing and management. These attributes are grounded on a sound background in insurance, law, management and finance.
