Director of Wealth Creation Cooperative Credit Union is asking low income earners in the country to cultivate the habit of savings to improve their lot.
Rev. Paul Kwabena Opoku says many small and medium businesses continue to suffer because of lack of funds to propel them to prosperity.
He says such businesses suffer, face all forms of risks endangering the sustainability of their growth.
Rev. Opoku was speaking at the opening of the Oduom-Anwomaso branch of the Wealth Creation Credit Union, making it the sixth branch.
The Wealth Creation Cooperative Credit Union with 6 branches in Ashanti region alone has over 3 thousand customers nationwide with 2000 subscribing to the Susu scheme.
It operates savings, current, Susu and Special Students accounts among others whilst providing credit facilities to groups and religious groups.
It declared 15 per cent profit to shareholders.
Rev Opoku says a combination of micro-savings and prudent loan policies coupled with relative education are the best ways to create wealth.
Reports of financial institutions embezzling or going into liquidation are ripe in recent times.
But Rev Opoku blames lack of qualified personnel to man such institutions and lack of prudent supervisory qualities.
