President John Mahama is set to chairing a meeting of the Presidential Advisory Committee on the Economy at the Peduase Lodge.
The committee which includes former Finance Minister Dr Kwasi Botchwey, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Kofi Wampah, and member of the New Patriotic Party Kwame Mpianim, is to find quick-fix solutions to Ghana's ailing economy.
Spokesperson of the president Ben Dotsei Marlor told Joy News' presidential correspondent Seth Kwame Boateng the committee members are busy "examining options" available to them as they seek short term solutions to bring the economy back on track.
He said the committee members have the Senchi roadmap as their guiding principle. The roadmap is the product of the national economic forum which brought together economic brains in the country to find lasting solutions to problems facing the economy.
Concerns were raised about government's delay in presenting the roadmap but those concerns were allayed last week when the Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur presented the roadmap to president John Mahama.
Mr. Marlor said the committee will aggressively implement the details of the report and bring the economy back on track.
Key on the agenda will be how to resolve the strangling budget deficit and to make sure the country does not live beyond its means.
Mr. Marlor added the medium to long term prospects are bright and with strategic implementation of policies the country's economy will be back on a sound footing.
