President John Dramani Mahama is set to present the final list of his ministerial nominees to the Speaker of Parliament on Monday, 20th January 2025.
This submission will mark the fulfilment of his pledge to complete the appointment of his cabinet within 14 days of assuming office.
The President has consistently emphasised his intention to operate a lean government, with a cap of 60 ministers.
This approach is aimed at ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness in his administration, aligning with his campaign commitment to reduce the size of government.
The forthcoming batch of nominees is expected to include ministers for critical portfolios such as Defence, Interior, Environment, Health, and Labour. Additionally, three Regional Ministers will also be named in this final phase, completing the appointments required for the effective running of government.
In the meantime, the Communications Team at the Presidency has dismissed rumours of an alleged third batch of ministerial nominees.
Reports circulating on various platforms, which listed prominent figures within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as part of the alleged appointments, have been described as “false and misleading.”
The team reiterated that any updates regarding ministerial appointments would be formally communicated through official channels.
Ghanaians are urged to disregard unauthorised information and rely on credible sources for accurate details concerning the government’s activities.
