Adentan, a vibrant and bustling constituency in the Greater Accra Region, took a significant step towards promoting cleanliness and environmental sustainability with the launch of the Make Adentan Clean Again (MACA) project spearheaded by the Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Akosua Asaa Manu in collaboration with the founder of WasteRight Africa, Amanda Sumabe.
This initiative aims to explore the relationship between climate change agriculture and gender empowerment by advocating for waste segregation and recycling and rallying the community to reclaim their streets, parks, and neighborhoods through regular clean-up exercises.
On 23rd March, 2024, at the Adentan Village Square, an enthusiastic group of residents assembled for a clean-up exercise at the Manmomo Electoral Area.
The event served as a powerful reminder of the value of collective effort in achieving a common goal.

Akosua Manu also known as Kozie Manu, in her address, emphasized the importance of taking sanitation issues seriously and working together to transform Adentan into a clean and healthy community.
This project closely aligns with the President's vision of making our city clean. It epitomizes the NPP's commitment to enhancing the wellbeing of citizens by promoting cleanliness and ensuring a sustainable environment.
Kozie Manu indicated that, the MACA project is not limited to one-time clean-up exercises; it aims to cultivate a culture of cleanliness and responsibility among residents.
She said it also seeks to empower individuals to take ownership of their surroundings and actively contribute to the beautification of Adentan.
“This initiative, however, requires the active involvement and commitment of all Adentan residents. Together, we can transform our neighborhoods into clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing spaces. Maintaining cleanliness not only improves the quality of life for residents but also acts as a magnet for potential investors and tourists, boosting the socio-economic development of our constituency. To let that happen, it starts with us.”
The MACA project is an opportunity for every resident to become an agent of change. Individuals can take simple steps, such as properly disposing of waste, separating recyclables, and maintaining clean frontages, to contribute to the overall cleanliness of Adentan.
Additionally, the project aims to engage schools, community organizations, and local businesses to drive awareness campaigns and promote sustainable practices.
As a Climate Change Advocate who was also the Speaker for the Blue Summit held in London in 2022, Akosua Asaa Manu through the MACA project had a segregation and recycling component to the exercise. The segregated waste was sent to recycling centres for onward processing.
She concluded by emphasisng that, "the future of a thriving and livable Adentan rests in our hands. Let us embrace the MACA project as a shared responsibility and commitment towards a cleaner, healthier, and more prosperous constituency. Together, we can Make Adentan Clean Again."
