The Adentan police have began investigations into the circumstances that made a 34-year-old suspect stab a police Constable and slash the stomach of a driver in an attempt to snatch a taxi.The suspect, Francis Ahiaku Anatsi allegedly, slashed the stomach of a taxi driver (name withheld) twice, while attempting to take away his Nissan Almera taxi cab with registration number as 816312 last Friday.Narrating the story to Daily Guide, the Adentan District Police Commander, Superintendent Stephen Ahiatafu said the incident happened around 4:00 p.m. Friday evening.Suspect Francis Ahiaku Anatsi hired the services of the taxi driver at Commandos, a suburb of Adentan to Adentan old barrier.On reaching a section of the road close to old Adentan Municipal Assembly, the suspect suddenly turned off the ignition of the car and attacked the driver with an Okapi Jack knife.The suspect slashed the stomach of the taxi driver when he resisted the attack.A police constable in plain uniform, who witnessed the fierce battle and the shouts for help by the victim, approached the two to ascertain what was happening.The suspect turned and attacked the policeman, stabbed him in the head and bit his shoulder as well.The police constable called for police re-enforcement from the district and the suspect was brought to the station for questioning.In his caution statement, the suspect admitted to the of fence and would be arraigned before court.
Meanwhile, the taxi driver and police officer who got injured have been treated and discharged at the police hospital.
