Mascot International Group, a renewable energy company based in China has launched its products and services in Ghana Tuesday at the Fiesta Royale Hotel in Accra.
The launch was to bring to the doorsteps of Ghanaians the company’s years of excellence in the field of renewable energy solutions and also provide affordable power generation tools.
At a time that the government of Ghana is looking at measures to provide affordable power supply to the Ghanaian populace, the government has commended the company’s move to use Ghana as its gateway to Africa.
In a speech read on his behalf, the Minister of Energy, Dr Joe Oteng-Agyei, disclosed that the government was ready to provide its unflinching support to the company to set up a manufacturing plant here in Ghana to feed the African market.
He said, “The government through the Energy Commission is promoting a Renewable Energy Law to ensure the integration of renewable energy into the national energy mix to enhance energy security, provide a regulatory framework to enable investors in renewable energy to ply their trade devoid of barriers associated with Renewable Energy, improve access to clean energy and address issues of climate change.”
The law, according to the minister, will provide for a feed-in-tariff mechanism to encourage by legalization, the adoption and use of renewable energy in the country.
The company used the launch to unveil three main products; Human Powered Bike, Induction lamps and Solar Systems for the Ghanaian market.
One unique feature about the Mascot Human Powered Bike is that it combines the features of power generation and fitness using human generated power. The power generated is stored and later used to power appliances.
The launch was attended by Mr Jubiao Ou, President, Mascot International, Mr Fuzong Tan, Vice President, Mascot International, Mr Jianye Ou, General Manager of Mascot International, Mr Kwame Brayeh, Director of Mascot Energy Savings High Technology (Ghana) Limited and other representatives of the company.
Other preventatives from the United Nations, Energy Commission, the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCO) and the Volta River Authority (VRA) were also at the launch.
