Former Editor of Kotoko Express, Jerome Otchere, says Medeama FC’s victory in the just-ended Ghana Premier League tournament will not break the dominance of Kotoko and Hearts of Oak in the league.
According to him, small clubs pulling such stunts in the Premier League are not uncommon; however, what is not common is these small clubs maintaining their newfound dominance.
He is convinced Medeama’s will find it very hard to replicate their victory in the next season or more.
Speaking on PM Express, Jerome Otchere said, “I will say for this moment yes, but I can assure him that Medeama is going to come back next season seeing Hearts and Kotoko rising again whether he likes it or not.
“Because the truth of the matter is that once in a while you’re going to see clubs rise like this and then a season or two you won’t find them again. I remember Aduana stars dominating pretty well in 2009.
“They won the league right away after they came from Division one. Now the only time Aduana had come close again to winning the league again was this season and they lost it, and if you’re looking at it that’s about 10 years difference or more."
He, however, commended Medeama for their victory.
“So I’m saying that yes let’s give it to Medeama, I agree that they earned it – I mean, they beat Kotoko at home and once you lose at home you should expect that you’re not going to come close to the title.”
