Melcom group of companies has denied reports that it failed to renew the fire certificate for its shopping center at Agona Swedru which was razed down over the weekend.
The Fire Service suspected the fire certificate for the building had expired and intends to question the management of the Swedru branch of Melcom today.
The fire which started at about 9pm was finally brought under control at about 5am yesterday. Though there were no injuries, nothing could be retrieved. Agona West Municipal Fire Commander, Ebenezar Mensah told Joy News thorough investigations will be conducted into the incident.
But the company insists it has satisfied all requirements.
A photocopy of their fire certificate forwarded to Joy FM is dated 7 June 2012 and signed by ACFO Ebenezer Simson who is the Acting Director for Fire Safety.
Melcom says it will welcome any investigation to establish the real cause of the fire.
