General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress says Wednesday’s meeting with President John Mills was unplanned.
According to Johnson Asiedu Nketia the meeting was more of a homecoming and a surprise visit by the president.
Speaking to Joy News' Dzifa Bampoh the General Secretary said the meeting was behind closed doors and coincided with another meeting between the national executives of the party and the Local Government minister ahead of the inauguration of new districts.
Asiedu Nketia would not discuss the details of the meeting with President John Mills except to say: “We had not planned any meeting with the president but we have always been insisting that every president should see the Party HQ as their home so our laws perfectly allow the president who is the leader of the party to once a while join us in our parties."
The General Secretary also said the meeting also gave the local government minister an opportunity to brief them on the upcoming inauguration of the district assemblies.
