Ghana’s Minority in Parliament has donated a sum of GH₵100,000 to the Black Queens in recognition of their impressive third-place finish at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The announcement was made on the floor of Parliament by Minority Leader, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who praised the team for their resilience and strong performance throughout the tournament.
"Mr. Speaker, while we've heard many words of commendation, tangible financial support has yet to follow. We, the Minority Members of Parliament, are humbled yet proud to be the first to publicly recognize the dedication of the Black Queens by donating GH₵100,000 to the team," he stated.
Ghana’s Black Queens returned home on Monday with the team’s stellar performance further highlighted by the inclusion of Grace Asantewaa and Portia Boakye in the tournament’s Team of the Tournament, recognizing them among the best performers of the competition.
