The People’s National Convention (PNC) has served notice it would soon declare its support for one of the parties contesting the December 28 presidential run-off.
The party says it is still observing the two frontrunners in the 2008 elections, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The PNC polled some 73,359 of total ballots cast representing 0.86 percent in the election and was able to secure two seats in parliament.
Speaking to Joy News, PNC general secretary Benard Mornarh said the national executive committee of the party is conferring to come out with a decision that is in the interest of the nation.
He maintained that the party’s stance would also run along the interest of farmers both in the southern and northern parts of the country.
There have however been wild speculations that the PNC could lean towards the NDC as both parties have socialist political ideals.
Reports have it that both the NPP and the NDC have been making overtures to the PNC, for an endorsement in the presidential run-off.
Political pundits have however posited that the decision of the PNC would have little or no effect on the outcome of the elections.
Most of the electorate who cast their ballot for the PNC are expected to vote according to their personal conscience other than a decision by the party.
