MTN, Ghana’s leading telecommunications company has signed a sponsorship agreement with Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC with a total amount of GH¢1,050,000.00 annually.The sponsorship agreement covers the next two and half football seasons and takes effect from 1st January, 2011.Under the agreement, MTN Ghana will provide the following for Kumasi Asante Kotoko Cash, MTN airtime and products, winning bonuses, special projects and supporters mobilizationMTN Ghana’s relationship and support to Kumasi Asante Kotoko dates back to the period between 2001 and 2008 spanning the days of Spacefon to Areeba to MTN.The Acting Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana, Mr. Clement Asante was delighted at the opportunity to support one of Ghana’s leading football clubs, Kumasi Asante Kotoko again and described the partners as “Panyin de Panyin” to reflect the leadership roles that MTN shares with Kotoko.“MTN remains committed to the development of sports in Ghana and across Africa. We recognise the love and passion our subscribers and Ghanaians have about the beautiful game of football and we are happy to support Kotoko to exhibit the best that football has to offer for its supporters and Ghanaians” he said.Mr. Asante referred to MTN’s sponsorship of various football clubs and events locally and internationally and said for MTN, these activities formed part of the MTN global brand and what MTN business values stand for.Again in Kumasi, MTN also unveiled and handed over, the newly constructed statue of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Santasi roundabout. The construction of the statue comes with the grassing of the roundabout as well as the installation of guard rails around the inner circle. This beautification effort was undertaken by the company to honor the exemplary leadership of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and also to help the Metropolitan Assembly’s quest to beautify the Garden City.
