Super Saturday on Joy Sports and Adom TV on Multi-TV provided lots of shocks and surprising results for viewers. The non-stop football marathon on Multi-TV, began at the home of Eintracht Frankfurt who were seeking to halt the marauding Bayern Munich who had not lost in the Bundesliga since September. Frankfurt got off to the worst possible start falling behind to a Miroslave Klose strike after just 6 minutes. The visitors (Bayern) looked like they would hold out before two goals inside the last three minutes from Juvhel Tsoumou and Martin Fenin gave them (Frankfurt) a deserved win. Bayer Leverkusen, however, failed to take advantage of Bayern Munich's slip-up as they were beaten 3-0 by Borussia Dortmund to remain in third place, three points behind the league leaders.
French Ligue 1 took centre stage next with Stade Rennes looking to continue their excellent run of form. Their opponents, Toulouse had not won a game at Rennes since the 1983/1984 season and their wretched run of results at the Route de Lorient continued. Asamoah Gyan struck twice as Rennes crushed Toulouse, 4-1 to climb to seventh place in Ligue 1. Asamoah’s brace increased his tally to 12 in the league, what appears to be an impressive debut season for Rennes.
The self- branded ‘Special one’, Jose Mourinho returned to the Inter-Milan dug out in the Serie A for the first time in 3 matches following his domestic touchline ban. His presence did not halt the Nerazurri’s poor run of form in the Serie A, as they were held 1-1 at Palermo. The set back means that second place AC Milan could overtake city rivals, Inter with a win over Napoli at the San Siro. Diego Milito fired Inter ahead from the penalty spot after ten minutes but Edinson Cavani levelled after 24 minutes and neither side could find a winner. The result left Inter two points clear of Milan, having played a game more.
Super-Saturday concluded on Joy Sports in the La Liga, where Sevilla, wounded by their shock Champions League exit at the hands of CSKA Moscow, tried to maintain their 4th place position in the league and restore some pride with a victory over Espanyol. A Dani Osvaldo brace deepened the woes of Sevilla as Espanyol cruised to a comfortable 2-0. Sevilla remain winless in 4 games and will drop to fifth if Real Mallorca beat Atletico Madrid later.
Fantastic ‘4’ action continues next weekend on Joy Sports and Multi-TV. Exclusive Euorpa league action resumes in a fortnight.
