The 2012 Presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Friday toured various parts of the capital ravaged by unprecedented floods last Wednesday.
The NPP flagbearer interacted with persons affected by the floods and sympathised with families which lost loved ones to the floods as well as those who lost property in the disaster.
Nana Addo’s first port of call was the Kwame Nkrumah Circle where he told flood victims that he was outside the country when the disaster struck and thought it prudent to come and commiserate with them on his return.
He expressed concern at the slow pace of clearing the debris.
The NPP flagbearer, who, according to Joy News' Francisca Forson struggled to make his way through an overcrowded field of traders jostling to see him, said he is heart broken by the quantum of loss.
He promised to, when elected president, take tough, bold decisions to end the perennial flooding in the capital.
His entourage also visited flood victims at Clottey Korley, Ablekuma, and ended at the Kokompe spare parts market where a fire outbreak recently caused extensive damage to property.
He donated GHC10,000 and 200 bags of cement for the reconstruction of the market.
